From the initial contact with Gary to the end with Nick, the whole experience, apart from the glitch in the middle has been good. "5 STARS Kieron McCarthy recommends Compton Spares.com: "A neighbour’s tree had damaged three of the cement roof sheets on the garage. When I worked out it was going to be a seven hour round trip for me to pick them up I decided to try getting some second hand locally. After a couple of weeks and COVID restrictions being eased I called there sales department for a quote. I’m dyslexic so have to give my address and email address very slowly to get it correct. The person on the end of the phone took the time and repeated each bit back just to be sure. (Some of the words are in Welsh) Because I don’t have access to a van and it would be seven hour trip to Sheffield I couldn’t go ahead with the order. Later the same morning I got the message they would be fitting a new garage roof to an address only an hour away and the small sheets might fit in my car. So so helpful, I measured my car and then ordered six panels. A few days later I met them where they were working and they carefully helped me get them in the car. I want you to know that without chatting to them on the phone and by email being so helpful I wouldn’t have bothered buying six new panels. Company provided photographic options for materials and then sent samples when coming to the detailed decision. Quote given and once accepted booked straight into calendar. Provided good evidence of completed work. On the day the two lads arrived to fit having travelled some distance. The wind had been blustery and I was unsure if they would start. They decided on a plan to complete the work and quickly set about the job. They were very professional in both appearance and manner. They worked hard and quickly removed the old roof working in an organised and tidy manner. They quickly had the new roof on and upon completion happily inspected the work. The job looked good and they were confident in their workmanship. They assured me that in the unlikely event there was a problem they would return to rectify it. Overall roof looks good and on the whole from cradle to grave a good company to deal with. I have already recommended the company to my sister in law."

"4 STARS In March 2019 Compton Spares put a new roof on my existing Compton garage. I was happy with the price, the service and the finished product. In January the following year the roof developed a leak and I asked for a repair under the warranty. Compton Spares repaired the leak, unfortunately unsuccessfully and they continued to attempt repairs for a year until they realised that a replacement roof was the only answer. They recently provided a (free upgrade) replacement roof which has, up to now, successfully withstood storms of biblical proportions. I have been very happy with the continued service, the professional attitude and the excellent customer service provided by this company. The only reason that I haven't given them 5 stars is because they provided repairs only when there was a team working in my area resulting in a drawn out service. (The Pandemic and restricted working practices may have contributed to this) I would definitely recommend them for garage refurbishment."

Their work was not accompanied by the playing of loud radio music or interspersed with foul language, which seems to be almost ubiquitous nowadays in this neck of the woods. They swept the site after they had finished, including a few very small bits that had dropped into the roadway gutters and left everywhere very tidy. I was rather impressed with that level of attention to detail! I would have no hesitation in recommending your business and I think a near neighbour may have contacted you via email in the last few days to request a quotation. "5 STARS We had our corrugated Asbestos roof replaced on a brick outbuilding. From the very first contact Compton Spares were so friendly and helpful. The ladies in the office kept me informed of available dates for the survey and installation and were so friendly and genuinely helpful. The installers came on a day whilst I was working so I left in the morning with the old roof still there and came home to an amazing new corrugated steel roof. The installers had been working through showers of rain and still managed to complete the job within a day. The quality of the roof installation is brilliant and has brought a new lease of life into our old outbuilding. The roof looks amazing and has been installed with care and attention to detail. The installers were very tidy and cleaned up when they were finished so there was literally no mess. Compton Spares did a fantastic job and I would recommend them to anyone."

"5 STARS We have had our Comptons garage since 1984, and extended the length of it to accommodate two cars in 1994. We had the old style corrugated asbestos roof, and after so many years was starting to look shabby, and thought it was time to get it upgraded. We contacted Comptons along with another provider for quotes. As we bought the garage originally from Comptons we were keen to have them replace the roof; however their quote was more expensive, but they were happy to price match, and we were more than happy to place the order. Having just come out of Lockdown #1 we were given a date for the work to be completed in October, this had to be altered as there was an issue with obtaining the roofing panels due to reduction in manufacturing during Lockdown. A new date in January 2021 was given, when Lockdown #3 was announced we were afraid that the date would be delayed again, but luckily construction work was still able to go ahead, and we got our lovely new roof. The team that carried the work out were fantastic, very polite and friendly. Very professional and competent at their work, quickly removing the old roof and getting the new on with new barge boards and facias in place. Our 34 foot long garage transformed in less than 3 hours, it was amazing to watch them work. They removed all debris from site, sweeping the garage inside and out, leaving everything clean and tidy. You wouldn’t have known they had been on site, apart from our smart new roof, barge boards and facias."

"5 STARS I'm very impressed with my new garage roof, which has given it a whole new lease of life. Excellent customer service right from the very beginning, from the very first conversations with Sharon and there were many with me giving updates on the removal of a thirty five year old Clematis that had taken over the roof, and then Nick to decide on the Anthracite Plastisol roof. I felt very assured that they would do an excellent job and they didn’t disappoint. The installation was arranged very quickly and the time arranged at 07:00 was exactly the time that the fitters Ian and Graham arrived to begin the work. They were friendly and professional. They talked me through what they were going to do and three and half hours later, they were all done. They took away all the old roofing material and cleaned up after them. The lads turned up on time and got straight to work. I expected it to last all day but they were done in 4 hrs. Very tidy. The office staff were pleasant to deal with and the men arrived on time and the job was complete by midday. I only had one other quote for the work, but Compton's price was competitive, plus they have all the proper waste licensing. They have the experience of dealing with these structures and know what they are doing. Requests to protect my block paved drive during the demolition were respected. In addition, they automated the garage door and sealed some gaps between the concrete wall panels. They worked efficiently and swept the site clean before they left around lunch-time. "5 STARS Dear Laura, What can I say? I have been very impressed by the high standard of customer care skills shown to me over the 'phone, by email and in person, of course, by the two employees who dealt with my garage roof on 05 06 2019. Ricky and Derek telephoned me to inform me of their arrival and filled me with confidence from the start. I was concerned that nearby trees outside the garage would hamper their progress and I had been prepared, if necessary, to hack off the leylandii branches resting on the roof. I was also worried that access to the tree side of the garage would cause them problems. Not a bit of it! Ricky reassured me that he and Derek would be okay with the inside and outside access available; I provided them with drinks and left them to it. When they said that they were finished and would be off soon, I presumed that they would be returning the next morning to finish off replacing my leaking, 20 year old garage roof. Then, Ricky said they had completed the job and I thought he must be joking! They both worked well together and have done a lovely job for me...thank you both so very much. They were polite and just got on with the job in hand, took all the old roof away and swept up as well. I wish all workmen would work like these two! Please pass my thoughts onto your manager or head office, Laura. I believe that when praise is due, it should be made known to senior members of staff, so that they are aware that they are lucky to employ such people. "5 STARS Bob, Im emailing you to say how impressed me and my wife were with the fitters on Friday, they were superb, the weather was against them and not once did they moan, or shy away from getting wet, and getting the job done. Nothing was too much for them job wise, even after i pointed out the complicated guttering system that was behind the garage, it would of taken me hours for me to do that if not days and Dave (Im sure that was his name forgive me if its not ive slept several times since Friday) went out of his way to get it done for me and save me the hassle. I think they even fixed the garage door as it seems to open and close with alot more ease that it used to. Not one bit of rubbish was left, the only thing that was left behind was an immaculately fitted asbestos free new roof. You said your guys were great and indeed they were. So many people moan for the sake of moaning and its about time people got praised for doing their job, sorry above and beyond their job. I have recommended Compton Spares to anyone that will listen to me over the weekend and will continue to recommend you as long as folk are interested in my new Terracota roof! "5 STARS As the survey was not carried out before the garage door was fitted the door was slightly too wide for the garage opening. However, as the engineers came at lunchtime the day beforehand. They fitted the door that afternoon but they had to put on brackets inside the garage opening. As most doors are a standard size could this have been the difference between metric and imperial. However, they did a really good job and with the roof insulation the card is and will not get drips from the roof."

They carefully removed the asbestos roof panels and loaded them onto the lorry for disposal then dismantled the garage into sections which were then removed. "5 STARS We had a new garage built in 2014 by this company and the work was carried out in a professional manner by experts in the building and garage replacement trades. They installed new foundations without harming our neighbours' old hedge which still thrives. We live in Chesterfield so the garage is below the road level but raised above the drive to prevent flooding. It is raised 5ft above the lowest point of our property The foundations could maintain a tower block they are so strong & the garage sits on a raft on top of the foundations in order for there to be no movement which happened to the original one 40 years earlier They dismantled and replaced this under difficult conditions. The fitters installed a carport, removing the old one. They also cut the new one to size for it to fit exactly to the new garage This was a lot of extra work which they did without question. We are very pleased with the results of the work & the excellent services given."

You were right to say you thought repair was possible, rather than go down the clearance and replacement route and I am so pleased with the result. My lack of online credentials did not smooth the path so it is perhaps fitting that you probably received a blank e-mail from me earlier as I tried to include Donna in the copy line. As yahoo constantly seems to delight in telling me, in an attempt to try to have me download another app, I only have Basic Mail. Whether this was the cause of my frustration today I know not but I hope you will bail me out again by passing on my appreciation to Donna and Michelle. I could not end without speaking of Steve who came to work here. I cannot offer enough praise for his all-round skills, problem-solving abilities and work ethic. "5 STARS Mr. Roberts of Barlborough, Chesterfield contacted Compton Spares as it was his wish to raise his Compton Apex Garage in height to accept a Peugeot Expert. Our installers are time served Compton Garage erectors, and although an unusual request we devised a plan to raise the standard 6ft6in eaves to 7ft0in and to provide a full 7ft0in under-door clearance. The roof was carefully removed, and the eaves height raised using substantial timber blocks which were later clad in PVC. The steelwork remarkably required no further modification as Compton Buildings in their wisdom had designed the trusses with this goal in mind. For good measure we replaced the front and rear fascias in PVC and a local garage door company arrived the following day to install a face fit and electrically operated roller shutter doors. A job well done."

The kit arrived as promised, the men were extremely helpful, the quality and condition of materials was excellent and the instructions clear as to what needed to be done and in what order. You kindly sent a socket for the roof bolts which arrived as promised the next day. My wife and I completed the job from start to finish in about 3 days. This included replacement of mastic in existing walls where necessary and similarly, the cement fillet at the base of the walls. Lifting the new panels was easy and - on advice form your men about making sure the first panel on each side was set perfectly - the remainder was straightforward. And since it started raining again the structure has proved waterproof.... first time for a few years ! ""
